INDIANAPOLIS — Matt Monaghan, vice president and general manager of global prosthetic hips for Zimmer, has been named to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, according to a Wednesday release. Representing Kosciusko County, Monaghan is among the more than 190 Indiana Chamber board members who are presidents, CEOs and high-level executives from companies throughout the state. The Indiana Chamber is dedicated to providing member companies with cost-saving benefits and timely information that will enable them to grow their businesses. The Indiana Chamber represents nearly 5,000 companies that employ 800,000 workers. The Indiana Chamber’s board plays a vital role in developing all aspects of the organization’s business advocacy efforts. Members serve on various committees that research key topics and define policy positions for adoption by the entire board each fall. These positions are used by the Indiana Chamber’s advocacy team to initiate and evaluate legislation at the Statehouse and at the federal level. In his role at Zimmer, Monaghan is responsible for all aspects of the prosthetic hip business. Previously, he was an operating executive for two leading private equity firms. The first 13 years of his career were spent with General Electric in aerospace manufacturing and engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a master’s from MIT and an MBA from INSEAD (France). “Each year we welcome new board members who offer fresh ideas from a variety of industries and life experiences,” Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar is quoted as saying in the release. “We appreciate Matt’s dedication and look forward to his input as we all work to promote economic prosperity and job growth in Indiana.” Monaghan will serve a three-year term as an Indiana Chamber board member through 2016.
