A quote of $34,500 from Connor Sports Flooring Corp. was approved Friday at the Warsaw Board of Works meeting to resurface the Pete Thorn Youth Center floor.

Parks and Recreation superintendent Jon Garber said the money is available in the 2003 budget (cumulative capital improvement funds).

The Arlington Heights, Ill.-based company will install a new surface over the old and add stripping for a basketball court, volleyball court and shuffleboard court boundaries.

Other quotes were received from Designer Showcase, Lombard, Ill., for $40,730; and from Foster Specialty Floors, Wixom, Mich., for $36,789.

Bids from Rock Industries, Aggregate Industries of Peru; Aggregate Industries of Goshen and Phend and Brown of Milford were approved for the purchase of limestone, ready mix concrete, flowable black material, bituminous material, concrete for curbing and concrete for flatwork.

The board approved a $41,000 payment to Phend and Brown for asphalt on the Beyer Lake Trail portion of the Lake City Greenway. The amount in the donations account is not enough to cover the invoice Mayor Ernie Wiggins said, but money is expected to pay the bill after the first of the year.

The board looked over the 2004 wastewater treatment plant budget guideline showing a total of $5,085,512 in expenditures.

The treatment plant will retain the services of Richard Huyck to continue training laboratory personnel for another six months.

The board also approved the street department request to purchase an emergency generator mounted on a trailer $20,305 and for installation of a transfer switch on the unit not to exceed $2,000.

The definition of a dependent for insurance purposes was reworded to include children (natural or adopted) under the age of 19, unmarried, dependent upon the policy holder for support and maintenance and not regularly employed on a full-time basis.

Board of works members are Mayor Ernie Wiggins, Jerry Patterson and Charlie Smith.
