Parkview Health recently announced it will partner with the Kosciusko Community YMCA as a part of the newly planned YMCA facility to be built at U.S. 30 and Mariner Drive. As partners, the two will collaborate to help foster family and employee health and wellness in Kosciusko County. Sharing resources, core competencies and strengths, the collaboration between Parkview Health and the YMCA is intended to make a significant impact on critical health issues throughout the county. In recognition of its private investment aimed at helping the YMCA further its health and wellness goals, the YMCA board of directors has announced it will name the new 70,000- square-foot facility Parkview Warsaw YMCA. “We are so appreciative to Parkview for this contribution and more importantly the partnership we’ve formed,” said Mike Coon, YMCA board president. “The YMCA is about bringing people together, meeting local community needs, and giving children, families and adults a healthier, safer place to play and learn. This gift will help us accomplish that for future generations.” “Health and wellness related initiatives are an important component of what we do,” said Mike Packnett, president and CEO, Parkview Health. “This partnership opens the door to new possibilities as we look to serve the families and employers of Kosciusko County.” Initial plans for the new YMCA include a health and wellness center, lap pool, instructional warm water pool, multi-purpose gathering spaces, a youth and teen center, a double gymnasium and outdoor space for day camp. Parkview and the YMCA will share space within the facility where Parkview Health will provide and offer health and wellness services and programs for area residents. By combining the expertise of each organization, this partnership is expected to help motivate people through education, planning and positive action as they look to take charge of their health. “Together we will be able to provide a continuum of services,” said Chad Zaucha, YMCA CEO. “People come to our organizations for a variety of health-related issues. As partners, we can provide a broader range of expertise and support, ultimately improving the lives of all who live and work in Kosciusko County.” A groundbreaking for the new facility is expected later this fall. The YMCA is projecting the building should be complete in late 2014, however the size, scope and timing of the new YMCA facility will ultimately be determined by fundraising. A little more than $13.3 million is still needed to reach the YMCA’s goal.
