Yet Another County Meth Arrest

Posted

Kosciusko County Drug Task Force made another methamphetamine-related arrest Monday. This arrest is the 10th in April alone and marks a 42 percent increase in meth-related arrests since this time last year.

Lt. Joe Mooney, county drug task force, said the community is experiencing an explosion of meth production, but even so, "We're way ahead of where we were last year."

Shaun Steven Brooks, 22, Ligonier, was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine, resisting/fleeing law enforcement and driving while suspended. He is held on a $10,000 bond.

Brooks was arrested when he drove up to another residence where the task force was serving a warrant. Officers were familiar with Brooks and approached him. They found that he allegedly possessed 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine, reportedly packaged for sale.

Brooks allegedly resisted arrest and swallowed a plastic bag of the drug during his arrest.

He was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment and then booked into jail.

To report drug-related activity, contact the task force at 372-2494 or Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at 267-5667.
