Posted
Since its opening April 15, Yamato’s Steakhouse of Japan has been offering various sushi, hibachi dinners and bento boxes.
Recently, the restaurant at 101 Argonne Road in Warsaw gained a license to sell beer, wine and sake.
The owners are Zhifeng Gao and Tom Hua.
The 3,500-square-foot restaurant underwent a drastic change in interior design.
Formerly a barbecue restaurant, Yamato’s now has a soft, Eastern design with lots of oak and leather seating.
The eight-person staff works on daily lunch specials and menu happy hours.
The first Yamato’s owned by Hua was opened in Marion.
The owners decided to open in Warsaw after a trip to the area saw that Yamato’s could fill a market need.
Now that Yamato’s serves beer, they have such imports on hand as Tsing Tao, Sapporo and Asahi.
The dinning area can seat up to 100 people.
They are also currently offering a to-go special for those looking for carryout.
For $29.95, customers get two hibachi entrees, fried rice, chicken-fried rice and two appetizers.
Daily lunch specials are $5.99. Lunch specials run Monday through Saturday.
Gao, through an interpreter, said that speed of service is key for Yamato’s.
Other areas of emphasis are cleanliness and presentation of meals.
Along with traditional Japanese and Chinese meals, they also combine flavors like with their Spicy Jalapeno Roll.
Yamato is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Gao said that Yamato’s is also capable of handling meetings and parties at the restaurant.
They also specialize in birthday parties.
