Members of a world race team were in Warsaw Sunday for their first of two appearances in one week in the Lake City. Jerry Price, a former Warsaw resident and owner of Price Team Racing, was in town with some teammates and family to help promote a show coming to the Wagon Wheel Theatre Sunday. World Race 2011 - New York to Paris kicks off this week in New York City. The event has garnered media attention from national media outlets like ESPN and a reporter for the New York Times will also ride along with Team Price for a portion of the trip. Price’s vehicles also will be equipped with cameras that will record what’s going on 24/7. It’s based on the Great Auto Race of 1908. As a part of World Race 2011 - the great-grandson of the 1908 winner will be presenting his program “Bandits, Guns and Automobiles” along the way. And because Price is from Warsaw, and two area residents are on the team, Warsaw will be one of the stops for the race. The program will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw. Price’s father-in-law, Richard Goshert, and his friend, Steve Parker, also both have ties to the area. Goshert owns Goshert Crop Insurance Agency in Warsaw, and Parker is a Warsaw resident. Both men will take part in the race that runs until July 21 when it finishes up at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. “Bandits, Guns & Automobiles” is presented by Jeff Mahl. Mahl is the great-grandson of George Schuster. Schuster won the 1908 race. Mahl’s program will take people through what it was like to be one of the early automotive pioneers. Mahl takes on the persona of his grandfather as he gives first-person accounts of what it was like in the early 1900s. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Price said the program is very entertaining and people will take a lot from it. Earlier in the day, there will be a car show at the Ramada parking lot. The car show is free.
