In the midst of rising insurance premiums and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniel's urge for Hoosiers to live healthier lives, a "Workplace Wellness Expo" is scheduled for Wednesday at the Center Lake Pavilion, 119 E. Canal St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to promote healthy living.
Nikken and U.S. Health Works organized the event and invited local businesses to attend in efforts to educate the community on healthy products, services and technologies Warsaw has available in order to reduce healthcare-related expenses.
"Many companies want to encourage healthy lifestyles for their employees, but don't know what's available for them," Nikken consultant Tim Hofer said. "This event can help clear that up."
Vendors from 15 organizations will present information on a wide range of wellness products, including fitness programs, stress management, massage therapy and whole food supplements. The event's featured benefits encourage preventative solutions to health problems.
"There will be information available from numerous providers in different fields, much like a buffet of healthcare options," Hofer said. "We're confident there will be something for everyone."
The event hopes to help reduce health insurance costs and increase productivity by assisting individuals to better overall health. According to Nikken, 70 percent of health benefit costs are related to unhealthy lifestyles.
Admission for the event is $10, which also will provide a lunch.
