Woman Tells Police She May Have Been Raped

Posted

A 20-year-old Warsaw woman reported Thursday that she may have been raped last week.

On Sept. 12, the woman attended a social event with a friend, where she became drunk and agreed to stay at a man's house.

She left with the man and, at his residence, she said, she passed out, fully clothed. The next morning, the woman allegedly woke up naked.

Bruises on the woman's thigh and other physical evidence reported to police indicate a rape may have occurred.

Under Indiana law, rape is defined as "a person who knowingly or intentionally has sexual intercourse with a person of the opposite sex when ..." the person is unable to consent, is unaware of what is occurring or is made to act by force or threat of force.

Rape is a Class B felony and is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
