A Syracuse man was arrested Thursday after allegedly beating a woman in March who was staying with him and who had a protective order against him.

Timothy Allan Dilley, 55, of 95 EMS D18A1 Lane, Syracuse, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:08 p.m. Thursday for battery causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor. His preliminary bond was set at $1,500. He also faces a second count of invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 6:55 p.m. March 14, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a woman reporting Dilley had battered her. When the officer arrived, the woman had already left the residence and was at a neighbor’s house.

She said Dilley came home after going to court and the two began to argue. She said she had been staying with Dilley for about a month. She said Dilley hit her in the face with an open hand 50 times, kicked her and jumped on her stomach. He pushed a large stick against her throat and hit her in the head with it. Her friend was in the residence and saw part of the altercation, according to the report.

The investigating officer did not see any apparent injuries to the victim’s face, but did have dark makeup around her eyes. She had a small red spot on the right side of her neck and a small bruise on her right arm.

The report said the officer did not notice bump on her forehead at first, but noticed it after an hour at the residence.

The woman’s friend was parked in the driveway when the officer spoke with her.

She said Dilley and the woman were arguing all day. She was able to calm the woman, and then the victim went to Dilley to try to get him in a better mood.

The friend claimed to hear Dilley threatening the woman. The friend left the residence and did not see any physical fight between Dilley and the victim, the report said.

The officer then spoke with Dilley at the residence. He said the woman had been staying with him for a couple of days and he came home from court to find that she had spilled beer all over the house. He said he kept telling her to get out of the house but she refused to leave.

He said nothing physical happened between them and he never choked or hit her.

The victim said she came to the residence willingly and has had a protective order against Dilley.

He said he didn’t know about the protective order. The woman got all of her belongings out of the residence and was picked up by a friend.
