LEESBURG - A Leesburg woman was rescued from the icy waters of Tippecanoe Lake Wednesday evening.

According to police, Shannon Richcreek, 26, of EMS T12 A Lane, Leesburg, was on a snowmobile on the west side of the lake. A friend, Steve Neigbert, also of EMS T12 A Lane, was following her.Richcreek's snowmobile apparently hit some thin ice and she fell through the ice into the lake.

A call was made to county dispatch at 7:36 p.m. from an address on EMS T25 Lane.

Richcreek spent approximately 20 minutes in the water before she was rescued by members of the Leesburg Fire Department, who arrived with a rescue sled and a flotation suit. Richcreek was then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. KCH officials stated this morning that no one under that name was at the hospital.

Neither Parkview or Lutheran hospitals in Fort Wayne had a record of a Shannon Richcreek in their directories.
