A woman who wasn’t supposed to be driving allegedly lied to police when she got pulled over, then kneed an officer in the groin after she was taken to jail.
Misty D. Warren-Siegel, 41, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:29 p.m. Aug. 14 for false reporting, driving while suspended with a prior suspension and felony battery causing moderate bodily injury.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Aug. 14 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, a Warsaw Police Department officer pulled a black Chrysler over for speeding on Winona Avenue. The driver stated her name was Tonya Ouimet and gave a date of birth. However, WPD officer Phillip Hawks was unable to find that name in the Bureau of Motor Vehicles database. Hawks was able to obtain a BMV photo of Warren-Siegel and verified her as the driver and got her correct date of birth. Warren was taken to jail and, upon arriving in the sally port, Warren kneed WPD officer Ryan Petty in the groin, court papers state.
Warren was being held on a $5,250 bond and has been appointed a public defender.
