Woman Faces Charges After Video Shows Her Hitting A ManA Tippecanoe woman is facing domestic battery charges after allegedly hitting a man on the head, which he caught on video.

Patricia Lyn Sweet, 27, of 1615 20th Road, Tippecanoe, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:31 p.m. Dec. 6 for domestic battery. Her preliminary bond was set at $1,000.

Court documents filed Thursday listed the charges against her as domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

On Dec. 6, Warsaw Police Department officer Jacob Metzger responded to a domestic battery at the Rue 21 parking lot in Warsaw.

Metzger saw a woman – later identified as Sweet – hollering and hitting the passenger window of a vehicle. Sweet would not cooperate with the officers, so she was handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle, according to court documents.

The victim told Metzger that while Sweet was sleeping in the car, he woke her up to tell her she needed to pick up her child at school. She became enraged and attempted to jump from the vehicle while it was moving. After the victim stopped Sweet from jumping out, she started hitting him on the head.

Metzger saw a video taken by the victim. It showed Sweet hitting the victim on the head. The victim had blood and a small cut on the right side of his head.

A child was in the vehicle while Sweet was hitting the victim.

A no contact order was entered Thursday.

Sweet’s initial hearing was scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 7.
