Woman Burned After Mower Hits Gas Line

BOURBON – A Bourbon woman was injured Tuesday afternoon when her mower hit a gas line on a farm southwest of Bourbon.
According to Bourbon Fire Dept. Chief Brandon Chapman, crews were dispatched to the 13000 block of Filbert Road around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Chapman would not release the name of the victim, but Lake City Radio reported this morning that the victim is Joyce Roberts.
The radio station also reported that family members said Roberts sustained burns on 42 percent of her body and is in a burn unit in Fort Wayne.
Chapman said he believed the woman was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital then to Lutheran in Fort Wayne.
According to a representative from Lutheran, Roberts is in serious condition at St. Joseph Regional Burn Center.
The accident destroyed two 1,000-gallon LP tanks as well as a corn bin.
Chapman said there was no damage estimate yet.
Argos, Tippecanoe and Plymouth fire departments assisted Bourbon.
