Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies, along with emergency personnel, responded to a 911 report of a single-vehicle crash along Packerton Road Saturday at approximately 7:46 p.m. just south of Ind. 14.
Officers and responders located a black 2001 Ford F150 pickup truck that had struck a utility pole on the west side of the roadway. Kelly S. Bozell, 43, Akron, had reportedly been southbound on Packerton Road when a deer suddenly ran onto the roadway.
Bozell attempted to swerve to miss the deer and went off the shoulder of the roadway, striking a utility pole. Bozell was airlifted by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center from the scene. Bozell was in fair condition this morning.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team members were on scene and stated that the crash was still under investigation, pending legal blood draw results as required by Indiana state law.
