Winterfest Hosts First Polar Plunge At Oakwood

“Freezin’ For A Reason,” Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce’s first Winterfest polar plunge, had around 12 participants – including members of the local Lake City Roller Dolls – jump into the icy water of Lake Wawasee Saturday afternoon. Proceeds from the charitable event will go toward Wawasee Schools’ Boomerang Backpack program, which provides backpacks of food for students in need. The event was one of several on tap in an around Syracuse Saturday during Winterfest, including the annual snowmobile drags on the ice at Syracuse Lake and a 5K snow run.
