WINONA LAKE - The Winona Lake Redevelopment Commission approved Town Coordinator Craig Allebach's request Wednesday to pick two appraisers.
The appraisers are to make independent appraisals of the 800 Park Avenue property before the city purchases it.
Allebach had a list of local appraisers to choose from. He suggested the commission set a deadline and pick the first two appraisers that can do their appraisals by that deadline.
The Redevelopment Commission approved resolutions in October to remove the property at 800 Park Avenue from the existing economic development area and designate it a blighted area.
The property, owned by Ralph and Joellen Fitch of Larwill, doesn't conform to the use of the other property around it. The house has deteriorated to the point that it does not fit in the area for economic growth as far as the TIF district is concerned.
Other than approving the November minutes no other action was taken.
Members of the Redevelopment Commissions include: president Al Disbro, Judy Mugg, Dennis Daniels, Judy Reneker and Robert Piecuch.
