WINONA LAKE - Colorful sailboats will take Winona Lake May 19-20 in the Sixth Annual Winona Cup Sailboat Regatta.
Spectator parking will be in Rodeheaver Auditorium parking lot, 1100 Park Avenue, four blocks from the viewing site.
Sign-up registration is $45, and is May 19 at 9 a.m. at the Winona Town Park.
Weather permitting, four races are scheduled for May 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and two races will be May 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Robert Hudson, chairperson for this year's event, said local boaters, as well as boaters from Ohio, Michigan and Illinois, will participate in this year's race.
Hudson described sailing as a game of risk where boaters battle wind conditions, and challenge each other to occupy space on the lake.
The top three winners will receive trophies, and the first-place winner will have their name on the Winona Cup displayed at the Boathouse Restaurant.
