WINONA LAKE - Winona Lake Lions Club is collaborating with Four Coins Co., Ligonier, to create a poster featuring Winona Lake's businesses.
The commemorative poster program is an attempt to capture the spirit, history and business community of a given town through poster art, said Jim McAndrews of Four Coins. The poster is an artistic interpretation of the town and is not to scale.
Bob Myers of the Lions Club said the posters will be sold at town functions and the money from the posters will go to the Lions Club's state and local projects.
The state projects include leader dogs, cancer control, speech and hearing and the Lions Eye Bank.
Locally, the money will go toward purchasing and collecting eyeglasses and for fund-raisers for people who have a need.
Participating businesses fund this program, contributing a one-time art and production fee of $195. This places the business in the program, which earns the business a spot on the poster. There are approximately 100 businesses of various types included in the program.
Approximately 5,000 posters will be made. Each participating business will receive a minimum of two posters at no additional charge and the rest will be distributed to the Lions Club to be sold.
The posters will be available after Jan. 1 through the Winona Lake Lions Club.
