WINONA LAKE - Winona Lake Clerk-Treasurer Retha Hicks received her Level Two Municipal Management Institute certification Sept. 25 from the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns.
An annual convention was held Sept. 24-27 at the 2006 IACT Annual Conference and Exhibition in Indianapolis for municipal officials of Indiana. The awards ceremony was held Sept. 25.
Others who attended the convention included Mayor Ernie Wiggins and Winona Town Council members Dave Delp and Jeff Carroll.
Those who attended the conference had the opportunity to attend workshops on leadership and meet with other leaders of cities and towns in Indiana.
Hicks said she took five courses this year in development, finance, leadership, management and services to obtain level two certification.
After achieving four levels of certification, municipal officials earn designation as an IACT Certified Municipal Official.
Hicks received a certificate for completing the level two municipal management institute certification.
"The education I have gained from these classes will help me to make wise decisions in where I would like to see our community go," Hicks said.
She said attending the conference allowed her to make contacts with other municipal officials throughout the state and in small communities.
