WINONA LAKE- Winona Lake Town Council approved a change order for the Pierceton Road resurfacing project Tuesday night.
The change order is for $115,508.42 and was a decrease from the original $119,290.40 contract.
The contractor, Phend and Brown, didn't need as much materials as they thought they did for the resurfacing project, according to Craig Allebach, town coordinator.
Also during the meeting, the council approved the town hiring a temporary employee not to exceed 30 days to assist the clerk treasurer's office with its new software.
The council approved appointing Dave Turner to serve on the Economic Development Commission.
The council also accepted a photo that was taken by Al Disbro of the Winona Hotel that was in former Congressman Mark Souder's Winona Lake office.
Souder donated the photo to the town and councilwoman Sue Gooding suggested it be displayed in the Winona Lake Senior Center.
In other business, the council continued discussion on the Stonehenge project.
Allebach said the town has been trying to work with Stonehenge Golf Course for the past year to get an agreement signed for the town to have easements for a pump station.
The hold up is that the golf course wants some language in the agreement that the town has not been able to come up with that is suitable for the golf course, Allebach said.
The project is to install storm drains and make street repairs in Stonehenge Subdivision.
Upcoming events in the town include an Empty Bowls event Saturday to bring awareness to hunger.
The meal of soup, bread and water is from noon to 2 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium. Tickets to the event are $20 and are available at the Village At Winona shops.
The Second Sunday Series "Across the Sea" is Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium, Festival of Trees is Nov. 18-21 at Rodeheaver, Winona Lake Community Dinner is Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Westminister with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at town hall, and a Holiday Open House is Dec. 4 in the Village At Winona.
