WINONA LAKE - A change order for Winona Lake street repairs completed in 2006 was approved Tuesday.
The Winona Lake Town Council approved a change order for Niblock Excavating and Asphalt, Columbia City, to cover material payments.
The original contract was $19,763.40 and the final contract approved was $20,310.95. The change order is an increase of $547.55.
Town Coordinator Craig Allebach reminded council members of the town's snow ordinance. The ordinance states that when there is more than 2 inches of snowfall, there will be no parking on the side of the street with even numbered addresses on even numbered days of the month.
The side of the street with odd numbered addresses will have no parking on the odd numbered days of the month.
This will continue until snow is removed from the streets and people are asked to not shovel snow into the street.
The council tabled a request to vacate a portion of Park Avenue. The council has discussed the vacation at previous meetings and is awaiting a legal description that addresses ownership of the area from town engineer Larry Long. Long did not attend Tuesday's meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Retha Hicks informed council members 500 people attended The Art for the Heart Winter Art Fair held in Winona Lake.
The event was held Saturday at Rodeheaver Auditorium and featured approximately 26 artists selling fine art.
The event raised $1,000 to benefit Heartline Pregnancy Center, a center that provides pregnancy testing, clothing, diapers and formula for families in need.
Hicks said council member Jerry Clevenger will be on "Talk of the Town" WRSW 107.3 Monday at 2 p.m.
