Hourly salaries were approved for the chief deputy clerk, payroll and utility clerk and deputy clerk at $17.99; park and senior center director at $17.11 and building commissioner at $24.42.
A $275 Christmas bonus was approved for Paul Schmitt, Malcolm Gilbert, Joe Bumbaugh, Mike Foster, John Leeper, Ellen Swaim, Jenny Harting, Cindy Nolton, Craig Allebach, Kent Adams, Holly Hummitch and Gene Seiman.
In other business, the council approved seeking a contractor for installing a parking lot on Roy Street not to exceed $30,000.
Larry Long, town engineer, provided the council with a report on the Muirfield subdivision street improvements project. Long said the streets are deteriorating and the pavement is cracking.
Long said the two options are to reconstruct the street or repair it. He said he recommends repairing the streets by removing and replacing portions of the concrete pavement. The option to repair the streets would cost $216,010, while the estimate to replace the streets is $532,455.
In other business, Jeanine Hudson, Winona Lake resident, requested the town to fill a hole behind Tennis Street. Hudson said the hole collects excess water. Town Coordinator Craig Allebach said the town will work on the issue as quickly as possible.
