SYRACUSE – The Wawasee High School Choir will be performing in the candlelight processional Friday at Epcot in Disney World, Florida. The students were required to audition, and were selected to perform. The candlelight processional is a collaboration of all sacred pieces with accompaniment and narration. It tells of the birth of Jesus with arrangements of old favorites such as “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “What Child Is This,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Joy To The World,” “O Holy Night” and “Away In a Manger.” The processional is a 45-minute presentation and culminates with the “Hallelujah Chorus” by George Handel. The students will perform with approximately 300 high school choir students, a professional Disney orchestra and singers. There also is a guest narrator. Trace Adkins is the narrator for the performance Friday. The students will perform twice while at Epcot. The students are leaving the school today and will return Dec. 23. The choir students raised close to $40,000 for the trip through activities that included selling business ads, holding a spaghetti supper, selling Mudlove bracelets and candy and holding a quarter auction. The director of the WHS choirs is Connie Meadows, and this is the third time her choirs were selected to perform in the candlelight processional.
