Bibles & Books is now under new ownership with husband and wife duo Beth and Pete Gross running the store located at 129. N. Roosevelt St., Warsaw.
The building is located a half block north of the Center Street Penguin Point location.
Bibles & Books has been well-known in the community for 25 years under the ownership of Don Klosinski.
Klosinski was looking to retire, and Beth, who had been working at the bookstore for a year, decided to take on the venture.
It's the Pierceton couple's first business venture. They are currently leasing the building from Klosinski and took control of the business Nov. 1.
The 800-square-foot retail space offers both new and used books, and like its name says it offers religious and non-religious items.
But, according to Beth, the thing Bibles & Books is known for is its special orders.
A website currently is being developed for the bookstore which will allow patrons to order the books through them.
Bibles & Books has served many people in the area with a customer database of more than 2,000.
On thing that sets Bibles & Books apart is its work with the jail ministry.
The bookstore accepts donations of used books. The proceeds from those used books are then given to jail chaplain John Boren.
In turn, Boren uses that money to purchase Bibles and faith-based books for inmates at Kosciusko County Jail.
The bookstore also does business with local churches, Sunday schools, Bible study groups and Vacation Bible School.
"We've also had a really great relationship with schools in the area," said Pete.
Customers can check for a potential December sale though the store already marks 25 percent off its prices for every item sold. With a low overhead of three employees and an existing building, Beth said, she feels her prices remain competitive with big box stores and online outlets.
Bibles & Books is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
