NORTH WEBSTER - The meeting was short and bittersweet Wednesday with the town council mourning the death of its longtime president, Myron Clark, the previous afternoon.
Councilwoman Kay Andrews said she and Ken "preferred not to have the meeting in honor of Myron, a man we valued" but the council had business to take care of before the end of the month.
"He was a wonderful man," Andrews said.
Clark was elected to the council in 1984 and served as its president for most of his tenure.
A letter from the Church of God , North Main Street, indicated the members were ready to proceed with paving the parking lot with 3 inches of asphalt, at the church's cost.
Town superintendent Marshall Minnick asked the contractor to contact the street department before the day the work begins.
Purchase of a new computer for the clerk's use was approved from Gateway, which presented the lowest bid of $4,200. TJ Enterprises, Wabash, will get the system up and running at a cost of about $1,000.
IBM and Compaq also submitted quotes.
Andrews announced that the town is accepting bids for a 1994 Sweepster broom.
The next regular meeting is set for Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., and the year-end meeting is set for Dec. 29 at 9 a.m.
