WINONA LAKE – Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church is hosting its fifth annual “We Care Warsaw” event Saturday to meet the community’s needs.
The event is from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Gordon Recreation Center, 100 Rupe Drive, Winona Lake, and at the adjoining property of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake.
“We are preparing for more than 800 guests from the community to attend,” according to Dave Rank, We Care Warsaw coordinator.
Community organizations assisting in the day include: Fiesta Hair Salon, Combined Community Services, World Compassion Network, Grace College and an information table on the development of a Lake Cities Community Health Clinic that is projected to open in 2013.
Door prizes given throughout the day vary from gift cards to restaurants, retail stores, auto fuel and groceries and gift baskets and small appliances.
A Christmas gift store will be available where parents can purchase, at nominal prices, toys and winter garments and then have their purchases gift wrapped for free.
A class will demonstrate how to make your own laundry detergent for much less than name brand detergent.
There will be more than 300 volunteers from the church who will be serving the community guests through the day.
