WINONA LAKE – Free haircuts, makeovers and fixings to make a Christmas dinner are some of the services attendees can receive during the “We Care Warsaw” event Sunday.
The fourth annual event, sponsored by Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gordon Recreation Center, 100 Publishers Drive, Winona Lake. The center is next to the Winona Lake Fire Station.
“With more than 300 verses in the Bible on the poor, social justice and God’s deep concern for both, we want to demonstrate to our community this same concern and love in tangible ways,” said Dave Rank, Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church assistant pastor.
Besides the free haircuts and makeovers, other free services include manicures, family pictures, one free bag of groceries per family, Christmas cookie decorating and inflatable games.
There will be free drawings for gas and grocery gift cards from Wal-Mart.
The grand door prize drawings for several $100 gift cards to Walmart will be at 4:45 p.m.
A Christmas Gift Store is planned for parents to purchase toys and winter garments for children.
Oil changes will be offered to the first 30 auto owners for $5.
A hot full-course dinner will be served at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway. The dinner is available to the first 800 people who choose to pick up a free meal ticket at the church door that day.
The first seating is at 11:30 a.m.; second seating is at 1 p.m.; third seating is at 2:30 p.m.; and fourth seating is at 4 p.m.
The menu includes roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and stuffing, green bean casserole, apple and pumpkin pie, coffee, milk and water.
