Hundreds of Warsaw Community High School students formed a giant pink ribbon on the football field Friday afternoon.
The formation helped conclude the second annual Pink Ribbon Week at the high school.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the pink ribbon is to show support for breast cancer patients.
Junior Student Council President Haley Hinkle said during the past week the student council sold pink ribbons and t-shirts. The shirts sold out.
A competition also was held between the high school principals. The principal who ended up with the most money in their jar had to kiss a pig before Friday's home football game. Dave Anson was the lucky pig kisser.
However, if at least 1,000 students at the high school wore pink to school Friday, Principal Troy Akers also had to kiss the pig. Akers made his pig kiss quick.
Hinkle said every student knows someone who has had breast cancer or another type of cancer so Pink Ribbon Week is important to all the kids.
"I have had several people in my family die from breast cancer or cancer, and it's a really important cause to me. It's kind personal," said Lucille Rich, junior class student council secretary.
The junior class student council organized Pink Ribbon Week.
Rich said the week also is preventative in that it gets people to check themselves for cancer.
With the ribbons and t-shirts and jar competition, Rich and Hinkle said about $800 was raised for the Indiana University Cancer Research Center.
"I'm very happy with it," Rich said of funds raised.
