To help promote good stewardship of aquatic resources in the area as a part of the Indiana Lakes Management Conference at Oakwood Resort, the Indiana Lakes Management Society held an art contest for area students. The contest was for fourth- through sixth-graders and seventh- and eighth-graders. The competition was open state-wide and lots of art was submitted, promoting protection of aquatic resources. Both the students and their schools benefitted with each winning $100 cash prize. Schools are to use the prize toward materials related to lake ecology. The two statewide winners happen to be from the Kosciusko County area and the winning checks ($100 to the artist, and $100 to the schools) were presented Wednesday at North Webster Elementary Milford Middle schools. Diana Castell and Heather Harwood represented ILMS and Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, who helped organize the contest.
