SYRACUSE — A group of counselors and support personnel from The Bowen Center gave anti-bullying presentations Friday to 7th- and 8th-grade students at Wawasee Middle School. The two hour-long presentations were conducted by Bowen Center counselor Don Starke, who was assisted by Bowen Center intern Stacy Hellinga. Personnel from Bowen Center’s Syracuse office as well as the company’s public relations department also attended. Starke, who serves Bowen Center clients from the center’s Marshall County office, specializes in anti-bullying training. He reminded students that conflict and bullying are often confused with each other. Part of the presentation included Starke and Hellinga teaching the students the difference between conflict and bullying. Founded in 1961, the Otis R. Bowen Center for Human Services Inc. is a private, not-for-profit comprehensive community mental health center licensed by the State of Indiana Division of Mental Health.
