Wawasee Lake Death An Accidental Drowning

Posted
SYRACUSE - The death of a Fort Wayne man at Lake Wawasee has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Gary Froshaug, 62, Fort Wayne, along with his wife, Mary, and another woman, were sailing on Froshaug's boat when, according to state conservation officers, windy conditions caused the boat to capsize and throw all three people into the water.

Three fishermen, including Danny Keffaber, North Manchester, and William Mabee, Winona Lake, were fishing near the area and pulled the three victims out of the water.

Gary Froshaug was unconscious at the time of recovery and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler ruled Monday that Froshaug died as a result of an accidental drowning.

Froshaug's wife and the unidentified female were uninjured.

All three boaters were wearing life preservers.
