With duck season approaching, a local chapter of a national conservancy group is hosting an event in Syracuse.
Wawasee Ducks Unlimited will be hosting a “Waterfowl Hunters Party” Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N Long Drive.
There will be food, beverages, raffles, door prizes, and other activities.
Wawasee DU will be giving away a brand new duck boat, several guns, 50-plus dozen decoys, layout blinds, and much more.
Pre-event tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youths and include entry into the event, dinner, non-alcoholic beverages, and a one-year subscription to Ducks Unlimited magazine.
Wear any article of camo clothing and automatically be entered to win a gun.
All profits go to wetland and waterfowl conservation. Call 574-529-2572 or 574-528-0854 for tickets or more information.
Wawasee Ducks Unlimited can also be found on Facebook.
Ducks Unlimited is a national, non-profit organization that focuses on wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Much of the funds that DU receives each year is through the work of local volunteer chapters such as Wawasee DU.
DU volunteers host more than 4,000 grassroots fundraising events annually, such as member and sponsor banquets, shooting and fishing tournaments, and golf outings. Event dollars represent some of DU’s most important sources of revenue. Since event dollars are typically unrestricted, DU is able to spend these funds in their highest priority areas and use them to leverage additional funds from other sources.
