Warsaw Zoners Approve Variance For Three-Car Garage

Posted
Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals Monday approved a variance from development standards to allow a three-car garage in a residential neighborhood.
Petitioner Jacob Riley, 414 S. Washington St., requested the variance to allow a 1,090-square foot garage on the property.
“I am looking to improve the site with a three-car garage with metal siding and a metal roof,” Riley said.
In order to ensure the adequate vision clearance along the alley, the garage must meet a five-foot setback on all sides.
It cannot exceed 1,090 square feet, 50 percent total lot coverage, so as to allow adequate water infiltration, said Tim Dombrosky, assistant city planner.
Dombrosky said the city received a letter from a neighbor to the west of the property in support of the three-car garage.
Rick Keeven, commission member, said he supported the three-car garage.
“I’d like to help the neighborhood stay competitive with long-term residency,” Keeven said.
Keeven moved to approved the variance, seconded by Ron Shoemaker, board member.
