Warsaw Zoners Approve Variance For Mobile Home Community

Posted
Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals Monday night approved a variance from development standards that will allow 29 additional mobile homes to be created.
Aaron Wellington, representing Forest Park Mobile Home Community, attended the meeting to request a variance.
The variance from development standards is to create a 5-foot front-yard setback from the 10-foot setback from the front of the mobile homes to the road.
The variance is for his home occupation, a mobile home community, at 3300 E. Old Colony Road. The property is in the residential zoned district.
Wellington said the variance will allow him to create an additional 29 mobile homes on the property. He said there are currently 143 mobile homes there.
Board member Rick Keeven made a motion to approve the setback, seconded by board member Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan.
The streets on the development are private and don’t have to follow the standard 10-foot vision setback on street frontages.
Board member Rick Keeven asked if there had been concerns from adjacent property owners.
Tim Dombrosky, assistant city planner, said there were no concerns received.
In other business, Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer swore in new board member Jack Wilhite, who replaced board member Derrick Haniford. Board member Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan’s term was renewed.
Thallemer thanked Wilhite and Rudisel-Jordan for their service to the city.
Board president Tom Allen welcomed secretary Kim Arnold, who replaces Connie Dawson.
