Kosciusko County officials are investigating a vehicular traffic fatality that occurred Thursday afternoon that claimed the life of a Warsaw woman, according to a press release from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Barbara J. Wagner, 78, Warsaw, was located inside her 2007 Ford Escape, and Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson pronounced her dead at the scene. Wilson stated that Wagner died of blunt force injuries she received as a result of the crash, the release states. KCSD deputies and emergency personnel responded Thursday at 2:10 p.m. to the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 350W in regards to a reported vehicular crash. Kosciusko Fatal Alcohol Crash Team members stated that a preliminary investigation into the crash determined that Wagner had been traveling southbound on CR 350W. Wagner had initially stopped at the intersection, according to witness statements. She suddenly proceeded directly into the path of a westbound 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Matthew W. Roeder, 16, Plymouth. Roeder was not injured in the crash, nor was his passenger. Kosciusko FACT was assisted at the scene by members of the Atwood Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS, Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police and KCSD.
