Posted
A Warsaw woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly threw her 2-year-old grandson across the room.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, a KCSD deputy responded to a family fight Saturday and met with the victim who advised that her mother – identified as Jennifer Lichtenberger, 42, of 3699 N. CR 175E, No. 8, Warsaw – had gone to the neighbor’s house and returned intoxicated. She further advised that when Lichtenberger returned, she began yelling and screaming and sat down on the bed on top of the victim’s 2-year-old son. Lichtenberger allegedly became more angry and threw the 2-year-old across the room.
According to the affidavit, the victim attempted to help her son when Lichtenberger bit her on the nose. The victim’s other two children were reportedly in the room when the battery occurred.
Police spoke with a witness who advised she heard yelling and screaming in the bedroom and when she arrived to make sure everything was OK, she witnessed the 2-year-old “flying through the air.” The witness then reportedly gathered all the children and took them to her residence for safety.
Lichtenberger was arrested on a felony charge of battery to a person less than 14 years of age, a felony charge of battery to a family or household member and a misdemeanor charge of battery and was held on a $5,000 bond.
