A Warsaw woman was arrested Monday on charges alleging that she struck and injured her 4-year-old child with a belt. Sherena Michele Harris, 26, 1692 E. CR 200N, Warsaw, is preliminarily charged with felony battery resulting in bodily injury to a victim under the age of 14 years old and felony neglect of a dependent. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and the Department of Child Services responded to the home on CR 200N Monday afternoon for an inspection. While case workers interviewed Harris they noted what appeared to be bruises on her 4-year-old daughter. Harris was questioned about the injuries and was taken to KCSD for further interview. Harris admitted to striking her daughter with a belt causing the visible injuries as well as taping the child’s mouth shut in the past. Deputies then arrested Harris and booked her into the Kosciusko County Jail. Harris is currently being held on a $2,000 bond as officers continue to investigate the incident with the assistance of the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
