Warsaw Woman Allegedly Batters Her Own MotherAfter allegedly choking her own mother and spitting on another person, a Warsaw woman is facing battery and strangulation charges.

Bonnie Ann Stewart, 38, of 2097 S. Maple Run, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:45 p.m. March 26 for strangulation, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and battery by bodily waste, a Class B misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $5,000 surety and $250 cash.

On March 26, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy Craig Summers responded to a domestic battery. The second victim told him the first victim had been very sick and just got out of the hospital and was at the residence.

She said Stewart, the first victim’s daughter, arrived and was intoxicated, according to court documents filed Friday.

Stewart began swearing at her mother, put her hands around her mother’s throat, trying to choke her, and then let go of her neck and kicked the chair hard enough it would’ve turned over if the second victim hadn’t stopped it from tipping over.

Stewart then began attacking the second victim, who held Stewart’s arms to keep her from punching her. Stewart then spat on the second victim.

Summers saw the spit on the second victim’s shirt as well as marks on both sides of the first victim’s neck.

The first victim told Summers that Stewart came to the residence and physically attacked her. She said Stewart put her hands around her neck, but could not tell if it affected her breathing. She told Stewart to stop and she stopped and then tried fighting with the second victim and spat on her.

Stewart admitted to Summers that she battered her mother, according to court documents. When talking about spitting on the second victim, Stewart said it was a “good one.”

A no contact order was entered Monday.

Stewart’s initial hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. April 18 in Kosciusko County Superior Court III.
