Posted

Warsaw will add 85.5 additional acres to the Northern Economic Development Area this year.

A special Warsaw Redevelopment Commission meeting will be held Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m. to approve a resolution declaring the expansion of the development area. Following the commission's meeting, the Warsaw Economic Development Commission will meet. Following that meeting, the city council will meet to confirm the action of the Warsaw Economic Development Commission, city planner Jeff Noffsinger told the Warsaw Redevelopment Commission Monday.

Last year, the process created 438 total acres in the district. The 85.5 acres will expand the district to 523.5. The expansion area is along U.S. 30W and includes Sofamor-Danek and part of Petro Brothers.

Board members also approved paying $113,783 on their Central Economic Development bond.

The annual redevelopment bonds for each board member also were approved at $100 per board member.

The commission voted to retain the same officers for 2000. Tammy Rockey will serve as president, Charles Smith as vice president and Neal Carlson as secretary. Other board members are Jerome Kralis and Robert Steele.
