Posted
Warsaw will have a farmer's market downtown this summer.

The market will be be sponsored by Warsaw Community Development Corp.

It will be held the first and third Saturdays June through October from 7 a.m. to noon in the city parking lot in the 200 block of South Buffalo Street. The market is intended to be a marketplace opportunity for local growers and community-based programs to sell their products.

"Potential vendors as well as members of the community have expressed great interest and excitement in the plan to bring a farmers market to downtown Warsaw," said Clint Pletcher, WCDC president.

"The market fits WCDC's mission by further encouraging economic development of Warsaw's central business district and keeping the downtown area a dynamic and unique part of our community."

Other activities are being planned to enhance the market experience, such as entertainment and cooking demonstrations.

The Downtown Farmers Market Committee has worked with the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service of Kosciusko County and the Kosciusko County Health Department to coordinate details for the market.

The Downtown Farmers Market committee will hold an informational meeting for prospective vendors May 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the WCDC office, 117 W. Center St., Warsaw. Any person interested in having a booth at the market is encouraged to attend the meeting.

Vendors will be required to complete an application and agreement for approval by the Downtown Farmers Market committee prior to renting a booth at the market.
