Businesses in downtown Warsaw will take part in "Hometown Holidays" this weekend, a three-day event promoting local sales and activity in the area for the holiday season.
Sales, door prizes, drawings and give-a-ways will take place Friday through Sunday at participating shops, a majority of which are located on Center, Market and Buffalo streets. Hours for Friday and Saturday are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Warsaw Community Development Corp. Director Carmen Lock said the stores will have an "open house feel" for the weekend, with samples of products and various happenings going on between shops.
The Shop Around the Corner, 121 S. Buffalo St., will take part in its first Hometown Holidays with performing musicians inside the store, carollers and hot beverages available. Santa Claus will visit the store throughout much of the weekend.
Carriage rides also will take place along Center Street from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $5 per person or $4 with a non-perishable food donation. Children 2 and younger will not be charged.
Carollers also will be in the downtown area during the hour of the carriage rides.
