Warsaw Man Serious After Car Hits Utility Pole, Tree

PALESTINE- A Warsaw man was in serious but stable condition after sustaining injuries when his car hit a utility pole and tree in Palestine Friday night. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded at 7:03 p.m. Friday to a single vehicle crash on Ind. 25 at Second Street in Palestine. Arriving responders found Brian Shepherd, 23, Warsaw, in serious condition after his 1993 Ford Astro van had struck a NIPSCO utility pole and a tree. Shepherd was transported to KCH in stable condition with head and neck pain. He left the roadway for an unknown reason prior to impact, according to Chad Hill, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department public information officer. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, Hill said. Officers estimated the damage at $15,000 to $20,000. KCSD was assisted by the Burket Fire Department, Mentone EMS, Indiana State Police and Multi-Township EMS.
