Warsaw man reportedly held woman against her will after breakupA Warsaw man was arrested recently after allegedly holding a woman against her will when she wanted to end their relationship.
Ivan Tepo, 20, of 1692 E. CR 200N, lot 80, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Oct. 18 for domestic battery, strangulation and criminal confinement. His preliminary bond was set at $2,250.
Court documents filed Friday list the charges against him as criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; domestic battery, resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and strangulation, a level 6 felony.
On Oct. 18, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Kevin Gelbaugh responded to a domestic battery and confinement. He was met by a woman who said Tepo had another woman inside the residence and would not let her leave.
Officers knocked on the door, and after a period of time Tepo answered the door. Officers asked to speak with the victim, and she came to the door. She told an officer her mother had come to the home and told her she needed to leave. Tepo forced the victim into a bedroom and locked the door, holding her in a bear hug to prevent her from leaving.
Her mother left to call the police, and the victim attempted to escape out the back but Tepo stopped her. She told Tepo she wanted to end the relationship with him, and he slapped her on the face with his left hand and grabbed her by the neck with his hands and choked her to the point she was unconscious.
Court documents state Tepo admitted to an officer he held the victim against her will inside the bedroom, slapped her on the face and put his hands on her throat.
A no-contact order was entered Friday between Tepo and the victim.
He has since been released and his initial hearing is set for 11 a.m. Nov. 8 in Kosciusko County Superior Court III.
