Warsaw Man Lightly Injured in Fatal Crash

METEA - A Warsaw man was lightly injured in a Cass County head-on traffic collision that killed two Rochester residents Wednesday.

Brandon Lee Sowers, 20, of Warsaw, was southbound on Ind. 25N just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier veered “suddenly” over the center line and struck his 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department said.

Both vehicles came to rest on the west side of the roadway, badly damaged, the department said.

The impact killed the Cavalier’s driver – 19-year-old Alexis M. Hamilton – and her passenger, 26-year-old Michael S. Calhoun, according to the department.

Sowers was taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for what the department described as minor injuries, and released.

Per state regulations, a blood draw was taken from Hamilton. Those results are pending.

It was not clear from the sheriff’s department’s report why the Cavalier veered into oncoming traffic.
