A Warsaw man was arrested this morning after a chase that led to a property damage accident.

Jeffrey James Oswalt, Warsaw, was arrested for resisting law enforcement after leading police on a chase that ended with an accident. He was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $200,000. More charges are expected from the incident.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center received a call about an unwanted subject at Suburban Acres Trailer Park around 4:10 a.m. today.

When officers arrived, they learned Oswalt had local outstanding warrants. As the officers approached Oswalt, he refused to respond to them, got in a car and fled the scene.

While fleeing from police, Oswalt lost control of his vehicle, spun out of control in a field, regained control of the car and continued to flee.

During the pursuit, Oswalt hit a patrol car, then nearly hit an officer who was on foot.

After evading two sets of spike strips put out by officers, Oswalt headed into Warsaw, where he hit a set of the spikes before continuing west on U.S. 30 where he hit a second set of strips.

While attempting to turn onto CR 200N, Oswalt lost control of his car, hitting a semi-tractor-trailer in the eastbound side of U.S. 30.

After hitting the semi, Oswalt continued to head west in the eastbound lane of U.S. 30 before losing control and hitting another semi.

Oswalt was taken into custody, then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the accidents. After he was released from the hospital, Oswalt was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Multi-Township EMS and the Warsaw Fire Department.
