Warsaw Man Hurt In Drive-By Shooting

Warsaw police are investigating an early morning shooting that injured a Warsaw man.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, around 1:12 a.m. today, Paul Vines, 28, of Market Street, Warsaw, was walking near the intersection of West Jefferson and South Columbia Streets when he was shot by a person in a dark-colored car.

Vines said he left his home on Market Street and was aware that he could have been followed from there.As he walked on Jefferson Street, a dark-colored sedan approached southbound on Columbia Street. People in the car reportedly confronted Vines and three shots were allegedly fired from inside.

One of the shots hit Vines in the left leg, and he later was treated for the bullet wound at Kosciusko Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Vines reportedly identified the shooter, who is a person he recently had a feud with.

Warsaw police currently are trying to locate that person, and have been assisted by officers from both the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and the Winona Lake Police Department.

Police also are still looking for the vehicle, which is described as a dark-colored sedan, possible a Caprice, with tinted windows, chrome trim, a loud after-market exhaust, low-profile tires and a Mexican flag in the rear window. The vehicle reportedly belongs to someone other than the suspect.

The incident remains under investigation by the Warsaw Police Department.
