Jesse James Megething, 57, of Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw, reportedly was angry about an allegation of sexual abuse when he entered the lobby of the Warsaw Police Department around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Police had received information that Megething allegedly made statements about killing the detective involved in the investigation of the case. When confronted by police, Megething allegedly had a flare gun in his hand and a flare in his pocket.A flare gun is considered a deadly weapon and is capable of inflicting serious bodily injury and/or death.
Megething currently is under investigation for sexual misconduct with a minor relative. Megething was interviewed about the incident once, and police had visited his residence to set up a second interview.
After the visit, a relative of Megething contacted police, informing them Megething was on his way to the police department and was threatening to kill the investigating officer.
Megething was taken into custody and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail around 12:06 p.m. for sexual misconduct with a minor. No bond was set.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office currently is reviewing the case and will determine what charges he will face regarding the reported threat.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department assisted in the investigation.
