A Warsaw man and his girlfriend were arrested by the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force Sunday for allegedly dealing cocaine and marijuana in the Warsaw area.
Alfonso "Shorty" Ramos, 25, of 1314 St. Mary's Drive, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:03 p.m. Sunday for allegedly dealing cocaine or narcotics, a Class A felony. He is being held on $20,000 bond.
Raven Blu Downey, 24, of Fort Wayne, was arrested at 12:36 p.m. Sunday for allegedly dealing cocaine/narcotics and possession marijuana. Her bond was set at $20,450.
The drug task force began receiving information about Ramos in March 2003. Since that time, intelligence reports have led the drug task force to believe that Ramos has become a large-scale distributor of cocaine and marijuana in the Warsaw/Kosciusko County area.
Drug task force officers monitored Ramos and their investigation concluded Sunday with the arrests.
Ramos reportedly had approximately 14 ounces of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested. Fourteen ounces is considered a significant amount of caocaine for the Warsaw area and is valued at around $14,000.
Downey was arrested for allegedly aiding Ramos in the dealing of cocaine.
Two small children were in Downey and Ramos' custody at the time of the arrests. The children were turned over to a family member.
In a press release, the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force said, "It should be noted that while some narcotics investigations are slow and take time to build probable cause, the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force is committed and persistent to make sure large-scale dealers such as these are brought to justice."
