Warsaw Man Faces Charge Of RecklessnessA Warsaw man was arrested over the weekend for criminal recklessness after damaging several properties with his vehicle in August, though he’s never held a valid driver’s license.

Jesus Ribera, 55, of 411 W. Perry St., Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:05 p.m. Saturday for criminal recklessness – aggressive driving resulting in serious injury. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.

Court documents filed Aug. 14 list the charges against him as criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a motor vehicle never having received a license, a Class C misdemeanor.

On June 12, Warsaw Police Department officer Miles Reichard was dispatched to a vehicle that crashed into the side of a house. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ribera, and he was unconscious and taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.

Multiple properties were damaged in the crash, including a road sign; Van Wormer Family Dentistry landscaping and a sign; and an air conditioning unit, chimney base, siding and a window of a house. The chimney became dislodged from the home and fell over.

Reichard spoke with Ribera at KCH. Ribera said he lost consciousness and believed he had a seizure. He said he has a history with seizures, but also never received a valid driver’s license.

Ribera had been convicted of driving while suspended on Aug. 11, 2016.

A warrant for his arrest was issued Aug. 15.
