A Warsaw man has died after the motorcycle he was driving left the roadway Monday evening.
Robert C. Moore, 32, Warsaw, was westbound on CR 350N east of CR 100E when his 2006 Honda motorcycle left the road for an unknown reason, striking a tree on the south side of the road.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies and emergency personnel responded at 8:27 p.m. Monday to a report of a motorcycle crash. The first arriving officers located Moore in a ditch area on the north side of the roadway.
Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson pronounced Moore deceased at the scene due to blunt force trauma, according to a release from the KCSD.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team and investigators stated Moore was thrown across the roadway after impact and located by a passing motorist. Kosciusko County FACT stated in the release that it is currently unknown why Moore crossed the centerline and the crash is still under investigation.
Moore was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
During a Monday morning crash-scene investigation, it was discovered that the motorcycle traveled 103 feet after leaving the roadway before striking the tree, according to First Sgt. Chad Hill, KCSD public information officer. The bike continued on for another 61 feet after striking the tree.
A speed has yet to be determined, pending further investigation.
